Couture fashion photography
One of my favorite shots. This was in Palm Springs where the temp was 115 with a steady wind of 50mph. The model was a trooper as was my crew. Shot with a Mamiya 645 AFD and a 17 mega pixel back.

I live in the desert myself lol! I know how the weather can be!
I was wondering if you use the sun as a backlight, hit the model with 2 reflectors, if it would blow her out too much.

Hi Nad,
Actually two reflectors would not be enough light UNLESS you used two shiny boards/mirrors. Our original concept for lighting was to use two shiny boards however, the force of the wind would have blown those right over even sandbagged.
So we went with strobes with just a mola reflector on each.

Mamiya 645 AFD and a 17 mega pixel back: I’m saving my pennies to get a digital back for my Mamiya.

well be careful. Unless you are wealthy there is no reason to buy gear like this. I rent it and charge it to the client. Matter of fact MOST shooters don’t even own a camera at all. I own two cameras, a Rolleiflex and a Canon 1ds, that’s it.
